The place of Paul’s shipwreck and rescue has long been marked by the People of Malta, who named the place, St Paul’s Bay. They also hold an unshakeable belief that the Apostle of the Gentiles brought Christianity to their island.

President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales, Archbishop Vincent Nichols addressed Pope Benedict XVI at a General Audience for the Bishops of England and Wales - marking an end to their 2010 ad Limina visit to Rome.
On Monday 1 February 2010, Pope Benedict XVI received the Bishops of England and Wales at the end of their Ad Limina Pilgrimage to Rome. During his address, the Pope confirmed his first Apostolic Visit to Great Britain and asked the bishops to ensure the faithful of England and Wales that the Pope "holds them in his heart".
President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Scotland, Cardinal Keith Patrick O'Brien addressed Pope Benedict XVI at the end of Scottish Bshops' 2010 ad Limina visit to Rome. In his address Cardinal O'Brien thanked the Pope for his teaching and promised him a "heartfelt welcome" to Scotland later this year.
