Papal Pilgrimage to Portugal

Pope Benedict travelled to Portugal on 11 May 2010 for a four-day Apostolic Journey to mark the tenth anniversary of the Beatification of Jacinta and Francisco - the young shepherds who, with their sister Lucia, witnessed the Virgin Mary appear six times at the Shrine of Fátima in 1917. The Holy Father was greeted by large and enthusiastic crowds in Lisbon, Porto and Fátima - 500,000 alone gathered at the Marian shrine.
